“It is a difficult job, demanding physically and emotionally, but someone has to do it. It should not fall on the family, because, in addition to being neither appropriate nor safe, it is not psychologically healthy for someone who is going through a painful grieving process.”

These are the words of one of the technicians at DEATHCLEAN^®, who deals with traumatic situations on a daily basis and, in addition to cleaning the premises, also provides all necessary support to the victim's family, who entrust the DEATHCLEAN^®, all responsibility for restoring the place as it was before the incident, thus helping the family to start a new stage.

“Most people who have never requested a service from DEATHCLEAN^®, are unable to recognize the value and difference of our pioneering work, largely due to the fact that they are unaware of the type of specialized cleaning we carry out and the help and attention we provide to family and friends before and after our intervention on site, as we cannot forget that due to the speed of our response capacity, at the time we are carrying out our cleaning, the family is still in the grieving process”.

We cannot expect the family to clean up the scene of a death, whether it is a violent crime, suicide or natural death, as this will be a traumatic reminder and a memory that should be avoided. This is a job that should be left to our technicians, trained with the appropriate technical and psychological preparation. Under no circumstances should the family be exposed to such a traumatic situation.

“Many people assume that it is the police forces (PSP, GNR or PJ), the fire department, the INMLCF or even the funeral homes that take care of cleaning or disinfecting the place where a death occurred. Immediately after the necessary steps are taken by the authorities responsible for the investigation and the collection of the victim's body, the place is left to the responsibility of the family, who will have to clean the entire scene, not only the blood and other bodily fluids present, but also all the material left by the authorities during the investigation process”.
