SEWAGE WATER

DEATHCLEAN® vacuums contaminated water, removes waste and affected objects, mitigating the risk of contracting serious diseases.

All surfaces are decontaminated and dehumidified, thus ensuring their health.

Of the three categories that classify water types, category 3 (black water) is the highest level of danger, characterized by extremely unhealthy water, as it contains several harmful agents such as bacteria, toxins and other microorganisms that cause dangerous diseases and infections.

However, there are two more categories, category 1, which is the least dangerous, with water classified as clean, and category 2, where the water is classified as “gray water” and may contain some microorganisms, containing some danger, but not as much as category 3 water (sewage water or wastewater).

DID YOU KNOW…?

WHAT ARE THE RISKS PRESENT IN THESE LOCATIONS?

Sewage water is classified in the literature as "black water," originating from toilet flushing, meaning it contains a mixture of water, urine, and feces. Cleaning up areas contaminated by this water involves several risks, of which most citizens are unaware.

“Black water” contains several microorganisms (viruses, bacteria and fungi) and cleaning must be carried out by a specialized company that will guarantee the safety of the space, as it can contract several diseases, such as Hepatitis A, Encephalitis, Typhoid Fever, Cholera or various types of gastroenteritis such as Salmonellosis.

WHAT ARE THE RISKS TO PUBLIC HEALTH?

The public health risk from exposure to sewage was demonstrated in a Hepatitis A (HAV) epidemic that occurred between 1988 and 1989 in Ocoee, Florida (USA), resulting in 39 cases and one fetal death. In the 18 cases analyzed, each had a history of contact with stormwater contaminated by sewage.

More than 120 different viruses are excreted in human feces and urine and are sent to the sewer, including Rotavirus, Adenovirus, and Norwalk virus, as well as some parasitic agents, such as Giardia and Cryptosporidium, which are highly infectious and can result in serious intestinal diseases.

WHAT ARE THE RISKS TO HUMAN HEALTH?

Those involved in cleaning up areas affected by contaminated sewage water put themselves at risk of contracting various diseases and infections, such as chronic respiratory diseases, fungal, viral, and parasitic diseases, among other systemic effects on human health. This activity, when carried out by companies, is classified as high-risk, posing a risk to the health of workers.

It is a work activity that cannot be carried out by domestic cleaning companies or by people who are not properly accredited, legalized, and with adequate certified training, thus committing illegalities and disregarding hygiene and safety standards at work.

SEWAGE WATER

.

THE DEATHCLEAN® Vacuums contaminated water, removes all organic waste, and removes affected objects, mitigating the risk of contracting serious diseases. All surfaces are decontaminated and dehumidified, ensuring their health.

Of the three categories that classify water types, Category 3 (black water) is the highest level of hazard, characterized by extremely unhealthy water, as it contains various harmful agents such as bacteria, toxins, and other microorganisms that cause dangerous diseases and infections. However, there are two other categories: Category 1, which is the least hazardous, with water classified as clean, and Category 2, where water is classified as "gray water" and may contain some microorganisms, posing some hazards, but not as much as Category 3 water (sewage or wastewater).

In addition to classifying the type of water, taking into account the categories, the damage that occurs at the sites must also be classified, according to the classes.

Classes refer to the amount of water and the likely or anticipated rate of evaporation based on the number and type of wet materials in the affected space. There are four classes of water, starting with class 1, where the amount of water affecting the space is relatively small, compared to the following classes, where in class 4 the amount of water is extreme.

One of the main sources of "blackwater" damage is sewage, making it quite severe and posing serious risks to human health. Not only is direct contact with this type of water dangerous, but the release of endotoxins and bioaerosols into the air is also high, causing serious respiratory illnesses due to exposure and time spent in areas affected by this water.

To avoid exposure to dangerous pathogens, anything that has been in direct contact with contaminated water (sewage) must be removed.
